Havila Senki

The Havila are small, humanoid creatures discovered on the Amami archipelago near Okinawa. An endangered species thanks to the local fauna, a colony of Havila live under human supervision in a laboratory, matched by the scientists to mates from birth to ensure the species's survival. Chafing against the restrictions of their lives in captivity, a small band of Havila decide to seek freedom in the outside world after tragedy strikes their settlement, but the world - and their own species - can be cruel...
