The Siblings in the Forest

This book was a collaboration between Umezu Kazuo, who was in his second year of junior high school at the time, and Mizutani Takeko, a girls' manga artist living in Kyoto, and was Umezu's debut work. Umezu drew the first and second halves, while Mizutani drew the middle. Umezu and Mizutani were members of a manga circle called the "Kaiman Club," and Umezu asked them to collaborate. The original work is the Grimm fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel," but the adaptations are reminiscent of Umezu, who would later become a master of horror.
