Gekiga Disaster

Japan is a volcanic country that is constantly at risk of volcanic eruptions and major earthquakes. The Great Kanto Earthquake occurred on September 1, 1923, with the epicenter in Sagami Bay, causing over 100,000 deaths and 45,000 people missing. Sakurajima erupted in 1920, killing 58 people and plunging the city of Kagoshima on the opposite shore into the depths of fear. A graphic comic of madness, confusion, and tragedy that depicts many of the great disasters that once struck Japan.
